At its Changeover Social held on July 8, 2025, the Rotary Club of Welland formally honoured Rotarian Vic Kerschl in recognition of his 50 years of dedicated service to both Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Welland.
Vic has been a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Welland for five decades, joining on July 1, 1975. Over his tenure, he has served as a Board Member for more than 20 years. Vic held the position of Club President from 1979 to 1981, and again in 2021-2022. Additionally, he has fulfilled the role of Assistant District Governor multiple times for South Niagara clubs. He chaired the Easter Seal Program supporting children with physical challenges—a key Rotary initiative at the time—as well as the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.
Vic and his wife, Farida, have hosted six exchange students from various countries over the years and continue to maintain contact with some of them. In 2005, Vic and Farida represented Rotary on an international level by participating in a Polio Inoculation program in India.
Additional community engagement includes serving as Chair of the Welland Hospital Foundation and Niagara College Foundation, as well as holding positions as both Chair and board member with the Niagara Children’s Centre and Niagara Alzheimer’s Society. He demonstrates a strong commitment to fostering the partnership between the Rotary Club of Welland and the Niagara Children’s Centre.
He plays an active role in developing the Rotary Club of Welland Park along the Welland Recreational Waterway, collaborating with City of Welland officials and key stakeholders to enhance the facilities for the broader community's benefit.
Vic is recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow+4. He continues to demonstrate his dedication to Rotary by exemplifying the organisation’s motto of "Service Above Self."
