The Rotary Club of Welland held its 8th annual Curling Social on February 10 hosted by the Welland Curling Club. We had 68 Rotarians, family, and friends attend, with a complement of 56 curlers on 14 teams.
We welcomed Members of the Rotary Club of Fonthill, Rotary Club of Grimsby and Past District Governor Scott Marcin’s team from Amherst South and Kenmore NY. A special welcome to staff of the Niagara Children’s Centre, an organization Welland Rotary has been associated with since 1964, the City of Welland, Save Ontario Shipwrecks Niagara, and members of the Special Olympics
 
Everyone had an enjoyable evening, As it was a fun event, a draw was held to determine the winning rink, the prizes being Gift Cards for each member of the rink. The winning rink was from the Rotary Club of Grimsby.
 
The winner of the 50/50 draw, taking home $395, was Melissa Alakas. The Rotary Club of Welland presented a cheque, in the amount of $6,606.15 to the Niagara Children's Centre as the 4th of a five-year commitment for the satellite facility at the YMCA in Welland.
 
Net proceeds from this event will be used in the Rotary 2026-2027 year for Food Insecurity, Youth, Local Community, and Indigenous/International projects.
We plan to continue this annual event. Look for us in 2027, our 107th Anniversary!
