It’s no surprise that the impacts of the pandemic have strained our community’s small to medium sized businesses, charities and even our community member’s pocketbooks. That’s why the Welland Rotary Club and Faith Welland Outreach have teamed up to create a fundraiser that acts as a triple win for all these challenges.

‘We Support Niagara’ is a coupon book that supports Niagara Businesses and generates funds for local community projects. The coupon book consists of more than 100 coupons from over 50 businesses in the food and drink, health and wellness, home and garden, recreation and retail marketplaces. Within the book are nearly $2,500 in savings to local businesses.

“This initiative is in response to the pandemic and the pinch we’re collectively feeling from inflation and increasing interest rates,” says Tammy Morden, President of the Welland Rotary Club, “we’re really excited about the potential community benefit of our campaign.”

Morden adds that the Welland Rotary Club supports a number of different projects and community organizations, including the Welland Hospital, Niagara College, Elementary Schools, The Hope Centre, United Way, Rose City Kids, Community Crew, Habitat for Humanity, Rotary Park, and Niagara Children's Centre. Faith Welland Outreach provides programs and services for children, youth, and adults, with a particular focus on low income households. Examples of programs include after-school homework help, post-secondary scholarships, health and wellness workshops, and hot meals.

Betty Boyd, outreach pastor at Faith Welland, adds that books are now available for $40 each and can be purchased online at www.wesupportniagara.ca, or can be purchased in person at Faith Welland at 376 South Pelham Road, Welland during office hours (Monday- Friday, 9am-4pm). Or during store hours at Meridian Credit Union, Niagara St., Welland, and AP Brown Jewellers, West Main St., Welland.

They will also be available at events and sales displays over the next few months throughout Niagara.
