Recently we sat down with two very expressive and informed young people, one born and raised in Canada and the other, a student from South America. They expressed many of the hopes, dreams and fears of young people everywhere. These challenges and trends are at the forefront of why Rotary invests in youth development and leadership.

Recently we sat down with two very expressive and informed young people, one born and raised in Canada and the other, a student from South America. They expressed many of the hopes, dreams and fears of young people everywhere. These challenges and trends are at the forefront of why Rotary invests in youth development and leadership.

Vinay and David (seen right with Rotary Club members) expressed their concern over issues such as mental health, addiction, suicide, depression, and isolation. They question why these issues and often tragic situations continue to happen in our forward-looking society. They concluded, that they believe there are four areas that can greatly impact the outcome of an individual’s life: family, self-identity, goals, and a true understanding of reality.

Why does this matter to Rotary?

Rotarians across the world, and locally here in Welland, are guided by principles and values that one hopes will ensure the best outcome for all people. And that is why we invest in programs and services that build family, improve one’s self-identity, develop one’s goals and improve the reality for many among our community.

This is also why Rotary invests in developing skills and leadership qualities among youth and young adults. So they can become successful and strong contributors in our community. We invite you to learn about the many opportunities: for children through Earlyact clubs in local elementary schools; for students in high school through Interact clubs; for young adults through SLAPSHOT and RYLA; and for everyone who is interested in working with us to improve our community.

Become a Rotarian and help to shape our local and international communities.
